Who lives in a house like this? Pets Sensory Story PowerPoint

As you go through the story - Read the slide. Pause and encourage your child to explore the sensory item. Re-read that slide as you are feeling, modelling alongside your child.

You can ask questions as you go through - the first part of each introduction to a pet, shows the home of the pet. You can show the symbols of the pets and ask which pet lives here? You can encourage the use of the communication board to help your child/young person to answer your questions using a full sentence. After each sensory experience, you can ask an accompanying question, such as 'What can you see?', 'What does it feel like?', 'What can you hear?'. Point to the symbols and model - I can see/ It feels/I can hear ....

There are symbols for looking after a pet, to encourage your child/young person to select which one they think is appropriate for looking after the pet.

Repeating the sensory story over the week/s will help with memory and anticipating what is coming next.

The sensory experiences on the left hand side of the slides are better suited to home learning.
