Join in with singing this 'Super Simple Song' about fruit

or this Happy Fruit song

Activity 8: Pencil Control

Use the pencil control sheets to practice different types of mark making, or make different marks on paper using paint, pencils etc - or even have a go at making marks with a paint brush and water on the pavement or outside walls - you could even use chalk. Can you draw the different fruit shapes?

Activity 9: Size

Can you cut out the different fruit pictures and put them in order of size? You could even do this with real fruit. Which banana is longest? Which apple is smallest?

Activity 10: Cutting

Can you cut out the different fruit shapes? Or cut out your own pictures/drawings of fruits. Do you have any magazines with pictures of fruit that you could cut out?

Activity 11: Patterns

Can you continue the repeating patterns on the sheet? You could make your own repeating patterns using fruits you have at home.

Activity 12: Shopping List

Can you help to write a shopping list of the fruits you need to buy at home? You could write the words or draw the pictures. What sounds do they begin with? If you go to the shops with your family, perhaps you could help to find them? Or look at the online shopping and help to find them.

Activity 13: Disco

Can you have your own kitchen disco? What music would you choose? What are your best dance moves?

Activity 14: Printing

Can you use different fruits and paint to make some fruit print pictures? Can you make a pattern? Or make a face?

Activity 15: Fruit Salad

Can you cut up different fruits to make a fruit salad? What will you put in it? What does it taste like?

Activity 16: Blindfold Challenge

Put on a blind fold and taste different fruits! Can you guess what they are? Now try it on your family members!

Activity 17: Draw with Al Murphy

Watch the video of Kitchen Disco's illustrator, Al Murphy, showing you how to draw two of his fruity characters from the book. Can you draw them too? Make sure you share photos of your illustrations with your class teacher!

Activity 18: Role Play Puppets

Can you make some puppets of the fruity characters in Kitchen Disco? Maybe you could use the pictures in Activity 3 and stick them onto lolly sticks, chopsticks or spoons to make fruity stick puppets. Perhaps you could get creative with some of the fruit in your kitchen like the pictures below. You could even use the video in Activity 17 to draw your own pictures to make into stick puppets.

Once you've made your puppets, don't forget to have a kitchen disco using the song in Activity 1, Sean's Disco mix in Activity 13 or your own favourite songs and let your puppets join in! Can they do any of their actions from the story? We'd love to see photos of your puppets or videos of them having a kitchen disco....
