Cognition - Discoverers - Spring themed activities

Here are a variety of activities which use the skills of sorting, matching, ordering, shape recognition and fine motor skills.

Activity 1 - Matching pairs game

This can either be played as a memory game where you share out one set of the cards and lay the matching cards out upside down, the players turn over their top card and one card on the table if they match they win the pair if not can they remember where it is for next time.

The other version is just to have one set of cards face up and the player just has to find the one that matches the card in their hand.

This is a great opportunity for developing vocabulary as well as memory and recognition skills.

Activity 2 - Shadow matching

Match the shadow to the actual object

Can draw lines or cut everything out and match up that way.

Activity 3 - Make a chick cut and stick

Talk about the shapes that are being cut out.

Activity 4 - Colouring Game

Spin the spinner and colour in an umbrella in the matching colour line.  The first person to colour a line of umbrellas the same colour is the winner.
