Activity 2 - mixing colours
Gather some clear containers from around your house; plastic bottles, cups, clear oven dishes, or anything else you can think of! Also find something to add colour to the water like food colouring or paint, but be mindful that they might stain!
Please choose the activity which works best for you.
- You may also want some other materials to make this activity a bit more interesting, for example glitter, pompoms, beads, small plastic toys, sequins, or anything else! Add some of these materials to a clear plastic bottle then fill with water and add some colour to make a sensory bottle. Try shaking it and rolling it and exploring what you can see and what sounds you can hear. Try some other materials in another bottle and find out which ones you like and which ones you don’t like!
- This activity is probably best done in the bath or outside! Fill a few of your different containers with water and add different colours to each one. Pour each bottle one by one into a large container and see what happens when you mix the different colours together. Try pouring it from different heights, and see how big of a splash you can make.
- Fill a few different containers with red, yellow and blue water if you can. Get some paper and coloured pens or use a communication aid (please ask school if you would like a communication board) to record and talk about what happens when you mix the colours in a bowl; what colour do you get? Which colour is your favourite?
