This week have a go at making your own Cottage Cheese by adding lemon juice (an acid) to some milk.

Adult supervision required - this experiment involves hot liquid.

We are learning to be sensible and safe around heat.

Remember to wash your hands before you start this activity.

Print out the instructions and have a go.  It is ok to use a clean all purpose cloth (Jcloth) if you don't have a muslin.

If you don't have enough milk just use what you have, you will just have less cheese at the end.

Be careful not to add too much lemon juice or your cheese will be more like plastic!

Extension questions to think about:

What happens when lemon juice is added to the milk? What can you see?

What do you think milk is made up of?  Watch this video to find out.

You can eat your cheese as long as everything you used in the activity was clean.

What does it taste like? Do you like it?  You can keep your cheese in the fridge for 2 days after making it.
