Chickenpox

6 April 2022 (by admin (admin))

We have a suspected case of Chickenpox in school.

Today I have been notified of a suspected case of Chickenpox at Addington, in KS1.   The government guidelines state;

‘Some medical conditions make children vulnerable to infections that would rarely be serious in most children, these include those being treated for leukaemia or other cancers, on high doses of steroids and with conditions that seriously reduce immunity. These children are particularly vulnerable to chickenpox, measles or parvovirus B19 and, if exposed to either of these, the parent/carer should be informed promptly and further medical advice sought.’

If your child does contract chickenpox, please do not return them to school until all vesicles have crusted over.

I am hoping that we will not get any further cases of chickenpox in the school.  However, if your child does develop symptoms, please let the school know so that we can identify classes particularly at risk.

Many thanks
