CHOCOLATE NEST CAKES!

Nests make a great home for birds, can you spot any in your garden or when you are out for a walk? Use this recipe to make your own chocolate nests like the ones you can see!

Ingredients -

  • 200g milk chocolate
  • 85g shredded wheat
  • Toppings of your choice

What you will need –

  • Cupcake cases
  • Scales
  • Bowl to melt chocolate in
  • Saucepan
  • Spoon

Instructions –

  • Step 1 – Weigh the shredded wheat and then crush it, I did this by putting the shredded wheat in to a sandwich bag and crushing it with a rolling pin.
  • Step 2 – Break the chocolate in to pieces.
  • Step 3 – Melt the chocolate in a small bowl placed over a pan of barely simmering water.
  • Step 4 – Mix in the shredded wheat to the melted chocolate (do not forget to lick the spoon!)
  • Step 5 – Spoon the mixture into the cupcake cases.
  • Step 6 – Add the toppings of your choice.
  • Last step – Put them in the fridge for 2 hours to set.

Things to note – how many nests you can make with this recipe will depend on the size of your cupcake cases. I made 4 with larger cupcake cases, but you could easily make more with smaller ones!
