“We are a community committed to excellence and the development of the potential of all”
Thumbs Up Club runs at Addington School every Easter and Summer holiday, for children and young people aged 3-19 with a diagnosis of special needs. It is open to children from the local area as well as from Addington School, and takes up to 43 places each day running from 9.30am – 4.00pm.
Bookings open around 6 weeks before the start of each club. Booking and medical forms are then available from the school reception desk, on the Thumbs Up website and will also be sent out to all members on the mailing list.
If you would like to be added to the Thumbs Up Club mailing list, please email Ian Stentiford at email@example.com.
For more information about Thumbs Up Club and to download booking forms (only during periods when bookings are open as above), please visit our website at www.thumbsupclub.co.uk.
Thumbs Up Club is a registered charity. The charity name is Activity Club for Children with Special Needs (Berkshire) and Thumbs Up Club is the working name. We provide a Full Day holiday club for children with special needs. The club relies entirely upon voluntary donations, grants and parent subscriptions to provide this type of facility for children with special needs in the Wokingham, Reading, Bracknell, Windsor and Ascot areas.
§ A caring, happy and friendly environment for the child to enjoy, who may not have access to any mainstream holiday club.
§ Respite for parents who may need to continue working during the school holidays.
§ Respite for parents to allow them to spend time with their other children doing activities they would not otherwise be able to do.
Thumbs Up Club does not have any formal links or associations with Wokingham Borough Council or any other local council, and the club is not run by Addington School. We, of course, come into regular contact with all of these other providers by nature of our service but they have no involvement in the finances or operation of the club.
Thumbs Up Club is registered with Ofsted, and at our last inspection in 2013 we were rated as Outstanding.
The Disabled Children’s Team in Wokingham or Learning Difficulties and Disability team in Reading or your local council equivalent may be able to assist with funding for children whose parents would otherwise be unable to afford to pay the daily fee.
