Welcome to Kestrel Class

We are a class of 13 students from years 12-13. Students are engaged in a busy and dynamic 16-19 programme with a range of onsite and offsite learning experiences, including college.

Addington staff facilitators provide this group with sessions of Functional Skills in Literacy and Numeracy, ASDAN accreditation and Employer Recognised City & Guilds Qualifications. They acquire work ready skills, a knowledge of how their skills set can be applied to the work place and a sense of their role as valuable contributors to society.

The curriculum options and range of experiences enables our students to learn to manage experiences that initially stretch them beyond their comfort zone. Learning together, we aim to develop the potential of all by supporting our students whilst they continually inspire staff on their journey to adulthood.

Accreditation is based through employer-recognised qualifications - all of this class complete a Level 1 City and Guilds course in Hospitality, or Horticulture. Further accrediation can be gained through OCR Functional Skills as well as ASDAN Employability and Personal Social Development. Students also attend a links course at Reading College one day per week.
Six students extend their Hospitality skills by running a cafe at Wokingham Borough Council. They also prepare for and cater to outside events throughout the year. Other students are regular entrants to local and national competitions; last year they finished second overall school for their entry in the Newbury Challenge.
Enjoy catching-up with us each week!
