“We are a community committed to excellence and the development of the potential of all”
Welcome to Jo B's class homepage 2017 - 2018!
Michelle is our Teaching Assistant and at present Irene is acting up in this position.
Our Learning Support Assistants are Kelsey and Keisha, both full time, Candi and Linda who work two days each week and Dawn who works one day. We are supported by Sue and Jenny who help us at lunchtimes.
Our 9 students, 4 boys and 5 girls, all have complex learning needs and are in years 1 to 4. We work very hard on developing communication skills using a wide variety of methods such as Intensive Interaction, Sounds of Intent, the Eye Gaze, PODD and many interactive ICT programmes e.g. Clicker 7 and Grid 3. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy are a very important part of our daily activities and we follow each student's individual programmes devised by these therapists.
We do a lot of our learning through music, drama and messy play using a widely differentiated sensory curriculum. This term our cross curricular theme is Lotions and Potions, Witches and Wizards which will give us lots of fun and opportunities to explore the world around us.
We have swimming on Monday and Friday, music on Wednesdays and P.E on Thursdays.
