Sepsis Information Poster
There has been a confirmed case of Chickenpox in one of our primary classes. The government guidelines state;
‘Some medical conditions make children vulnerable to infections that would rarely be serious in most children, these include those being treated for leukaemia or other cancers, on high doses of steroids and with conditions that seriously reduce immunity. These children are particularly vulnerable to chickenpox, measles or parvovirus B19 and, if exposed to either of these, the parent/carer should be informed promptly and further medical advice sought.’
If your child does contract chickenpox, please do not return them to school until all vesicles have crusted over.
If your child does develop symptoms, which are confirmed as Chickenpox, please let the school know so that we can identify classes particularly at risk.
If you are pregnant you should be aware that there may be a risk to your unborn child from exposure to Chickenpox. Please click here for further advice from the NHS.

ALERT ABOUT ADMINISTERING BUCCAL
We have had an alert come through re Buccal, and the risk of the translucent tip-cap staying on the syringe when the red cap is removed; this will stop the medicine entering the mouth. It could also lead to the tip-cap falling into the person’s mouth when pressure is applied to the syringe, which is a choking hazard.
The syringe should be checked before administration that the translucent cap has come off before you put it in the patient’s mouth, if it hasn’t you need to remove it first.
